A garden for recuperation

Following a recent illness, the client was in need of a place in which to recuperate in a relaxing and peaceful environment. The setting of this Cottage, with the view of rolling hills, lent itself to a feeling of a calming and tranquil environment.

In order to allow for those days when the client was confined to the cottage, there was a requirement for them to be able to enjoy the garden from within.

Design Rules

  • Planting on the eastern of the cottage was to have late winter / early spring interest;
  • Similarly, to the southern side, the borders would have summer interest;
  • Close to kitchen would be a herb area in order that produce from it can be utilised;
  • The planting further out lent itself to a more naturalistic feel and took its inspiration from the looseness of the landscape beyond.
